About Us

About the Florida Crown Region of the Porsche Club of America

The Florida Crown Region (FCR) was chartered on June 16, 1960 as the Central Florida Region and changed it's name to Florida Crown Region on January 25, 1975. In that time FCR has grown to over 425 members. The Region has been very active in Driver Education, Autocross, Concours and Rally type events. In 1999 the region added Club Racing to it's list of many "world class" events. As a "Social Club" the Region has promoted social dinner meetings, some of which have hosted special speakers, such as Bill Warner of Amelia Island Concours fame, the late Bob Snodgrass & racer Hurley Haywood of the Brumos Racing Teams, among many other notable car enthusiasts.

Annually the Region hosts it's world famous Oktoberfest Event. This event is a big hit and includes such activities as; Club Racing, Drive n' Dines, Concours, Swap-n-Sell, Rally and an occasional autocross. Attendance always includes PCA members from other Regions, some as far away as Canada and California.

Another annual event has been one of our Regions many Charity support activities which encompass our kids. That is for Catholic Charities called 'Camp Promise' which is a special outdoor facility for disadvantaged handicapped children where they can come together with nature in the great outdoors.

Charities FCR Supports

American Red Cross of Northeast Florida

In 2009, the FCR contributed to the Northeast Florida Chapter of the American Red Cross by offering a "Drivers Education Package" for a live auction at Red Cross' annual "Masters of Disasters" golf outing fund raiser.  Our package consisted of a two day driver education package in a Porsche racecar at Roebling Road Raceway in Savannah, GA, hotel room, noon meals at the track, and track social. The funds gained from the auction will be used in North Florida to assist those persons in need due to unexpected local disasters.

American Lung Association

We have contributed for the past four years to the Northeast Florida Lung Association by way of offering a "Porsche Package" for their live auction at the annual Lung Association Spring Gala. This is a black tie affair with many celebrity guests. Our package consists of a two day driver education package in a Porsche racecar at Roebling Road in Savannah, hotel room, noon meals at the track, track socials. We have contributed almost $10,000 dollars in those four years. Proceeds from the event are used to help fight lung disease and other respiratory illnesses.

Hospice Northeast

Though our many volunteers that support the Amelia Island Concours d' Elegance Event.

911

FCR has sponsored special funding to a PCA family directly impacted by the 911 Tragedy.

Hole in the Wall Gang

In 1997 FCR hosted the National PCA Board Meeting. The gathering site chosen was the Marriot Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach. At the same time the new Boxster was shown to the Region. We had a test drive of the new Boxster around the property for $10.00 per loop and gave the funds to Paul Newman's "Hole in the Wall Gang" charity. They are responsible for sending very ill kids to a camp with special equipment. In addition we held a golf tournament to help raise funds. The entire weekend raised about $2,000 for the charity and several hundred people got to drive a new Boxster.
