Wolfson’s Children’s Hospital
Each year since 2012, the Florida Crown Region has made a special effort at our Christmas gathering to collect toys for the children having to stay at the Wolfson Children’s Hospital. In Addition, a substantial cash contribution has also been collected from the our members and also matched at times by other generous corporate donors. These funds are also presented to Wolfson’s when the toys are delivered just prior to Christmas.
American Red Cross of Northeast Florida
Florida Crown Region has contributed in the past to the Northeast Florida Chapter of the American Red Cross by offering a “Drivers Education Package” for a live auction at Red Cross’ annual “Masters of Disasters” golf outing fund raiser. Our package consisted of a two day driver education package in a Porsche racecar at Roebling Road Raceway in Savannah, GA, hotel room, noon meals at the track, and track social. The funds gained from the auction will be used in North Florida to assist those persons in need due to unexpected local disasters.
Hospice of Northeast Florida
Many of our Florida Crown members have volunteered over the past three decades for the Amelia Island Concours d’ Elegance. This award winning, multi-day event is among the top automotive gatherings in the world. Since 1996 the show’s Foundation has donated over $2.5 million to deserving charities in Northeast Florida. These include, the Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, Inc., Spina Bifida of Jacksonville, The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, Micah’s Place, and Shops with Cops. The Community Hospice of Northeast Florida cares for hundreds of terminally ill children and adults in North Florida each year regardless of their ability to pay.
American Lung Association
We’ve also contributed over the years to the Northeast Florida Lung Association by way of offering a “Porsche Package” for their live auction at the annual Lung Association Spring Gala. This is a black tie affair with many celebrity guests. Our package consisted of a two day driver education package in a Porsche racecar at Roebling Road in Savannah, hotel room, noon meals at the track, track socials. We contributed almost $10,000 dollars over four years. Proceeds from the event are used to help fight lung disease and other respiratory illnesses.
Hole in the Wall Gang
In 1997 FCR hosted the National PCA Board Meeting. The gathering site chosen was the Marriot Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach. At the same time the new Boxster was shown to the Region. We had a test drive of the new Boxster around the property for $10.00 per loop and gave the funds to Paul Newman’s “Hole in the Wall Gang” charity. They are responsible for sending very ill kids to a camp with special equipment. In addition we held a golf tournament to help raise funds. The entire weekend raised about $2,000 for the charity and several hundred people got to drive a new Boxster.
