Mid-February found over 60 members of the Florida Crown Region participating
in a Sunday drive n’ dine to the Cattty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary located in
north Jacksonville. Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary is a nationally-known and
respected nonprofit organization that provides a safe, loving and forever home to
endangered big cats and strives to educate the public about their plight in the wild
and in captivity.
Current residents include tigers, lions, pumas, leopards, lynx, foxes, and coatimundis.
Members were treated to a full guided tour of the sanctuary and got to see the
“residents” up close – too close for some! You don’t realize just how big a Siberian
Tiger is until you’re about five feet away from one.
