PORSCHES, PAELLA, and LIRA MOTORSPORTS

On August 19th, Alex Lira graciously opened the family shop in Port Orange, Florida and invited Florida Crown and Spacecoast members to gather and learn about the services that Lira Motorsports can provide. They have over 25 years providing high performance upgrades and repairs for Porsche, Audi, BMW and other marques as well. In fact, Alex is restoring his father’s 1965 Corvette, and “tuning” the matching numbers engine before he puts it back in.
Alex described the different types of modifications that can be done to different model Porsches, how they prepare their own race cars, customer cars and develop driver skills. After the Q&A session, we were treated to two types of homemade Paella – secret family recipes from Alex’s favorite caterer – one with meat and the other vegetarian and they were both delicious!!
Alex’s team hopes to compete in the Historic Sportscar Racing Classic from November 1-5, 2023, at Daytona International Speedway, so check to see if they are participating in this classic race.
A big thanks go to Mike LeBlanc for his upfront organizational work as well as well his pre and post onsite efforts. Additionally, thanks to all the Florida Crown and Spacecoast members for attending and making this a successful event. Hopefully this will be the first of many gatherings to include members from both PCA regions in the future.
